the holidays is over..
and i'd like to think that i've enjoyed the holiday season to the fullest. :)
after sleeping for an hour or two, my mom woke me up so that we could go to the airport to catch our flight. weeeeeeeeee!! lucky for us, we got there early - 10 minutes after we arrived, the line for the check in counter stretched all the way to the doors! *shivers*
families were all around us - most of them going to hong kong disneyland. :) but my mom & i decided to skip disneyland and see the other sights in hongkong.
and i was sooooo sleepy while waiting for the boarding call. When i strapped myself into my seat (just so you know, this is NOT my first time on an airplane. heeeeheee. :D), i fell asleep almost instantly! My mom woke me up for breakfast, as we were both STARVING! we weren't able to eat breakfast before we left. harmph. she told me that i fell asleep even before the plane took off!
the ride from the HK airport to our hotel was quite long, but there's a lot to see. :) although i was nodding off again 15 minutes into the ride. heeeheee.
after checking in and leaving our bags in our room, my mom & i went off in search for.. lunch! :D we found one near our hotel - they had huuuuggeee servings. and since we were soo hungry, my mom was able to finish about 2/3 of her meal & i finished mine.
we went around hongkong via the MTR - our equivalent of the MRT & LRT lines. On the first day, we went to Victoria Park, the Peak, rode the Star Ferry from the Hong Kong side back to Kowloon (since our hotel is located in the Kowloon side), had duck for dinner (of course you should eat duck when you're in HK!), and did some shopping.
and while eating dinner, i bumped (well, we was the one who tapped me on the shoulder) into Marvin (an orgmate!) Hi Marvin! *waves* He was with his family, and they just also got in that morning on a PAL flight (ours was a Cebu Pacific flight).
on the 2nd day, we went on the "required" Kowloon city tour. And it was funny - mama & i had already gone to some of the places that we went on the tour without even knowing it! The MTR tunnel from Kowloon to Hongkong was built underwater, we already went to the tallest building in HK while looking for the bus station to the Peak, and we already saw the Christmas tree for Santa's town! we also went to a jewelry factory which was partly owned by Jackie Chan. And considering the prices of the jewelry here in the philippines, the items that they were selling were very cheap! Just imagine the commission that the jewellers get when they sell those here. :) They also make items for Cartier.
after the tour, we ate at The Spaghetti house. it's not the same as the old spaghetti house here. The menu was in english! Finally!!!! :)) although hindi na kami natuto ni mama - the servings were HUGE again! although the lasgna & the pasta that we ordered was yummy. =)
after lunch, we went shopping - till midnight! we spent the afternoon near ocean terminal & in the DFS store, went back to the hotel to rest our feet, and then braved the chilly night breeze to go to the night market. and dinner that night was expensive. ugh. don't even ask why. oh all right.. we saw a "karinderia" which had pictures & english translations of their dishes. my mom wanted mixed seafood, and i wanted to try the fried squab (pigeon. :D), so we went ahead and ordered those. we were suprised that they were setting up the hot pot at our table. turns out that the mixed seafood was a hot pot. no biggie, we're used to eating hotpots. :) it was delicious, although my mom wasn't able t enjoy the food that much since they were ignoring her requests for a spoon & a fork. hehehe. When the bill came.. let's just say that my mom & i can already eat at Mandarin Oriental's Paseo Uno (buffet!) with the bill we had that night. *sigh*. okay, laugh all you want. :D
the next day, we went to ocean park on our own. The tour guide was offering an ocean park package when we had the kowloon city tour, but we decided that it would be cheaper if we just bought the tickets on our own - and it was! the cost of the package that was being offered to us was already the cost of 2 tickets + round trip bus tickets. :) we weren't able to go on all of the rides, but we were able to ride the cable car! *jumps for joy* oh, oh, i forgot to tell you - on our way to the Peak, we took the bus (which took the scenic route up), and rode the tram down! although it took us a while to find out where the tram is. :)
After going to Ocean park, we did some last minute shopping *cough kuya kedo's OAKLEY shades grrrr cough* before going back to our hotel to wait for the airport shuttle.
the airport was soooooooooo beautiful, clean, efficient and BIG! i mean, we had to take the train from one end to another just to get to our gate!
We were tired when we got home, but we enjoyed our trip immensely. :)
on the 30th, we had our high school kada reunion. Ches & I were the one who planned the night (for a change!), since we were both on forced leave, and the others still had work. :) We had dinner at heaven & eggs at tomas morato, videoke afterwards and all the while catching up with each other. :)
and on the 31st, i had to brave the sea of humanity again (no, not at SM supermarket anymore. the OCEAN of humanity is there!) at a small grocery 10 minutes away from our house, and then buy the fireworks. :) we also had our new year street party which was held in front of imelda papin's house, right next door. everyone brought something for dinner and there was a singing contest. and my dad won! hehehe. 500 din un. :P
Media Noche was bico, buko pandan, choco mousse, bbq and pancit.
Kuya Bong & Ate Raquel dropped by on Jan 1 for lunch & dinner. :)
*yawn* I hope this script im running finishes soon (without any errors!)
toodles! Happy new year!
