recruitment day(s)

last feb 8 & 15, we had the 1st ever UP-HP recruitment day. (yey! *clap clap clap*) Chris, Taty and I organized this, together with Gino (SMPC) & Mike's (RS) help.

grabe talaga, the day before ng feb 8, ngarag kami ni chris! kulang sa speakers, baka nde umabot yung food, yung mga giveaways nde napamessenger, wala pang tokens for the speakers... gaaaah

pagdating ng feb 8.. marami namang umattend. 34! :) only problem was.. masikip yung room. the feb 8 recruitment day was held at SMPC. and the venue we reserved there was the Manila boardroom, which seats... i dunno, 15(?) at the table? So di ba, siksikan sila. hehe. :) Aaat, yung projector sa boardroom SIRA! gaaaaaah. (stress, stress..) buti na lang, pumayag si jill mag opening remarks at intro to the company without a projector. But Joh & the other speakers DEFINITELY needed a projector, so chris & i went out and hunted for one..

option 1: Yung AA sa 14th floor. But noooooo, 11am na, hindi parin namin siya mahagilap.
option 2: Kunin yung projector sa kabilang boardroom. Turns out, ginagamit pala sha ng PS Bootcamp. arrgghh..
option 3: CRT monitor! (ahahaaaa. primitibo! =P) Although Chris & I were having doubts - baka hindi makita ng mga nasa likod.
and so, we came up with option 4 - "borrow" a projector from another conference room which was not being used at that time. Shempre si Mark Cruz (bosing sha) pa yung nagtanggal ng projector na nakamount. heeeheee. At para malagay namin yung projector dun sa boardroom na gamit namin.. ta-daaaa! instant tour! para lang mapaalis sila sa room. *LOL!*

tapos, shempre, venue kung saan kakain.. we already posted a note outside the pantry, saying that it was reserved for the meet n greet lunch with the SMPC LT, but noooo, may pasaway. argh.. natuwa lang kami ni chris kasi nakakain pa kami. We were expecting na hindi kami makakakain. yey yey yey! :D

Pero, ok naman yung feb 8 recruitment day. I mean, maraming pumunta, and i think they understood HP and what the teams are actually doing. :)

With all the boo-boos that happened on feb 8, we were determined to make the feb 15 recruitment day more successful than the first one.

Food - check! for 50 ppl.
Speakers - check! COMPLETE!!!!
Participants - 28 confirmed. although some of the CS students said that they'll be leaving early because they have an exam

Aba, aba, pagdating ng actual day itself, 11 lang sumipot! Pagdating ng 10am, there were only around 7 people present. So nagtawag na kami nina taty & fel. Others backed out because they had a deadline to meet (IE), and others had an exam (CS). Dudes naman, ok lang naman na magbackout, but please make sure that you inform the organizers that you cant attend kasi . Respeto naman. Maiintindihan naman namin kasi naging students din naman kami. (hellooooooo?!?!?!?!) Bad trip kami nina Chris kasi all 28 confirmed and REconfirmed that they were coming, tapos biglang magbbackout. Sa mga nagexam, alam nyo naman na the week before na may exam kayo, and yet nagsabi kayo na pupunta kayo. Kung hindi talaga kayo makakapunta, sana nagsabi kayo. Ok lang naman sa amin eh. If we knew na 11 people lang ang pupunta, e di kinancel nlng namin yung feb 15 recruitment day. Sayang lang yung effort that we put into that day. Sorry sa mga matataamaan, pero totoo naman kasi. Magsabi kayo agad! Bad impression na agad yan sa inyo. At nakakahiya sa speakers. To think na si Paul Martin pa yung nag opening remarks for that day. Grabe. For those who dont know Paul Martin, he was the site Lead 1-2 years ago. Now, he's in Singapore - higher position, of course.

Perrrro... looking at the better side of things...
- Maraming food! sa dami, nainvite ko pa teammates ko! :D hehehe. good decision na ininvite ko kayo. :D Ngayon, they're eagerly awaiting the next one para daw may libreng lunch sila! :))
- Mas madaling gawin yung tour, kasi maliit lang yung group. :)

at least tapos na recruitment day. :)
